I'm a developer and data science graduate based in the UK. I built ShiftGoal as an independent project to make tracking work hours, expected pay, and income goals simpler.
Why I built ShiftGoal
Hours, expected pay, and a goal are easier to follow when they live in one place. ShiftGoal is that place on iPhone.
You log a shift, see the pay those hours are expected to bring, record the payments you actually receive, and follow an income goal over time.
It stays separate from an employer, a payroll service, and a bank. You add the records yourself.
How I build it
ShiftGoal is an iPhone app. This website is the public home for the product: what it does, how to get help, and the policies.
Records you add in the app stay in your private iCloud database, using Apple's iCloud and CloudKit. Opening shiftgoal.app does not give the website those records, and there is no ShiftGoal account to create here.
What I care about
- Clarity. Expected earnings and the payments you record should stay distinct. Projected net is expected earnings minus work expenses.
- Privacy. Your ShiftGoal records stay in the app and in your iCloud account. This website does not receive them.
- Independence. ShiftGoal is a personal project. It is not a company.
